| Chatham Town Hall The town hall is set in the heart of Chatham Town, and is typically at the center of any and all town functions. It hosts a large meeting hall for residents to gather, vote, and vocalize their opinions on whatever issues face the town. It is also where large events like the Halloween dance and the Christmas time festival are held. Aside from town functions, there are also a number of offices located here, including the Mayor's and the town clerk's. The Town Hall also serves as the meeting place of the Chatham Island Association. This group of volunteers is responsible for planning and executing all local annual events and publicity drives to promote the local businesses. staff: Mayor: Town clerk (x2): Catham Island Association Volunteers (unlimited): |
Chatham Sheriff's Office Though Chatham is a quiet town, it still maintains its own small Sheriff's office to keep any and all local crime at bay. The office houses the small force of deputies that are under the sheriff, the county dispatch unit that radios all calls to the officers, and coordinates the volunteer firefighters in the case of an emergency, and lastly, it houses the local jail. Generally, they don't keep anyone more than a night or two for whatever misdemeanor they might have caused, but on the rare occasion they've had to make use of their jail for longer durations. staff: Sheriff: Deputies (x4): Held Dispatchers (x2): Held, Held Secretary: |
Chatham Fire Station Like most small towns Chatham isn't big enough to merit its own fire department. That doesn't mean that a fire never happens. To combat the slow response time that comes with their isolated location, Chatham has established its very own volunteer fire department. The department is solely run by local volunteers and is community supported. They have two fire trucks that only certified, licensed drivers are able to drive and the volunteer team can usually keep any blaze in check until back-up is available. staff: Volunteer Firemen (x10): |

| Puget Sound Ferry There is a ferry system that connects a number of the islands to the mainland, and Chatham just so happens to be its last stop before Seattle. Island residents can enjoy a quick 30 minute ride with or without their car for a small daily, weekly or monthly fee. The ferry comes every 15 minutes during peak hours and every 30 minutes at less crowded times of day. Residents can also use the ferry to get to other islands in Puget Sound. It is the only way residents have of getting off the island with a car. staff: Ferry Captains (x4): Ferry Crew (x10): Dock Workers (x4): |
Chatham Library This small library serves as the only means of renting books and movies on the entire island. The shelves are stocked with new and old releases, and for such a small building, they have an admirable selection. Whatever the library doesn't have it will be happy to special order, and twice a year they have a sale to clean out items that aren't renting as well anymore to make room, and raise money for new items. You can get a library card if you’re a resident of the island, and all rentals are free for two weeks. Late fees do apply if items are not returned on time, but the revenue helps support the library, and the fines are never very big. staff: Head Librarian: Clerk: Volunteers (x2): |
Chatham Island School This small school is the only available to residents on the island. It serves K - 7, and if you were born in Chatham, you probably went here. Unlike traditional schools, Chatham Island School, is a series of connected buildings that look more like houses than a school. The gym, art and music classes are housed in a separate building from their normal classes, and their playground is more of a well manicured lawn. Despite appearances, Chatham has managed to create a wonderful learning environment. Class sizes are never too large and kids are encouraged to try different methods of learning to see what works best for them. When they graduate and have to move onto high school on the mainland, they are usually some of the best students in their class. staff: Principal: Teachers (x8-1 per grade): Art Teacher: Gym Teacher: Music Teacher: Janitor: Volunteer Coaches (x3): |

| Chatham Emergency This small doctor's office serves as Chatham's only medical facilities. They're equipped with an x-ray machine, and a small staff of doctors and nurses, and they're capable of handling most minor injuries and emergencies. For anything such as tests or major medical procedures, residents of the island have to seek outside care from any one of the neighboring cities' hospitals. | Miller's Church Why this run down old church wasn't torn down years ago, the residents of Chatham will never know. Still, the dilapidated old church is a part of the town's history. Tucked away in a clearing in the woods, the church is as old as the lighthouse--possibly older. No one knows exactly why it was allowed to go into disrepair, but there's rumors that the old structure is haunted. There are rumors every few years about kids who went up to the church and went missing, but nothing substantiated. Maybe it is haunted, maybe it isn't, but the thrill that it might be, and its remote location make it a hotspot for local teenagers looking to get away and get in a little trouble. The clearing is known as a safe place for parties, and the woods provide a decent cover in case the local sheriffs come in to break things up. |
Old Harbor Lighthouse This functional lighthouse rests atop the highest point of the north shore of Chatham Island. It is a tourist destination, as well as a beacon for ships sailing in the harbor at night, and it has been around in one form or another for almost 200 years. It is part of Chatham's history, and the town makes sure to maintain and preserve it. There is a lighthouse keeper who lives in the lighthouse and is responsible for all of its day to day upkeep. staff: Lighthouse Keeper: |
